She wrote two grants to reform the court system in child abuse and neglect cases.

She was the recipient of the Resource and Crisis Center’s Helping Hands Award.

She reformed the Juvenile delinquency processing systems.

Susan has served on Island Youth Board, Galveston County Community Supervision and Corrections Dept. Board, Galveston County Juvenile Probation Board, Galveston County Pretrial Release Board, Galveston County Mediation Board.

She spent 2 years as a Galveston County Adult Probation Officer.

Susan is an active volunteer. Prior to taking the bench, she was a:
- volunteer for Ball High School’s Project Graduation, Central Middle School’s Career Days and Library Book Fair.
- volunteer attorney for County Senior Citizens Program, for which she received a commendation from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Susan was selected Boss of the Year by the Galveston Legal Secretaries Association.

She served 7 years on Firemen’s Pension Fund Board.

She has served as Democratic Chair, Pct. 23 & 24, and has been a delegate to Democratic Precinct, County, and State Conventions. She is Past Treasurer of Galveston County Democrats, Past President of Galveston County Young Democrats, and Past Secretary of Young Democrats State Convention.

Education & Personal Life
Susan is a 1981 graduate of South Texas College of Law, Houston, and a member of Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity. She is a 1976 graduate of University of Houston at Clear Lake, and a 1967 graduate of Ball High School, Galveston.

She is married to John E. Hunger. She is the mother of Susan Jean Reyna and Tara A. Hall, and grandmother of Andrew, Megan, Zoe, Issac, and Ezekiel Reyna, and Abigail and Caleb Hall.
